A family company has won a major North East Award for restoration work at Lindisfarne Priory, Holy Island.

The Construction Excellence in the North East 2011 Award for achieving ‘ Excellence in Heritage’ was won by Teamforce Restoration Ltd.

Director and head stone mason Brendan Teasdale said ‘’ We were commissioned by English Heritage to under go conservation works at Lindisfarne Priory and our dedicated team of stone masons replaced stones, carried out mortar repairs and replaced hard cementatious pointing with lime mortar. It is very satisfying to work on an ancient building like the Priory and we are delighted to receive the Heritage award which is recognition for the skills of our craftsmen.’’
