Its Quayside location, great facilities and ample free parking made Blyth Community Enterprise Centre the obvious choice for the BBC when they were looking for the perfect place to deliver their 6 week Digital Media Workshops 'About 21CC'.

BBC Learning is running a programme of fully funded 21st Century Classroom (21CC) workshops for schools, colleges, teachers and community groups, drawing on expertise from across the BBC and the media industry. They're offering sessions on a range of digital technologies, including animation, graphic design, film and TV, radio, and music production, encouraging participants to explore creative ways of using digital technology in teaching and learning.

“Blyth CEC Board and staff are thrilled that the Centre's been chosen out of a myriad of other possible spaces around the North East” explained Ray Gibb, Centre Manager at Blyth CEC.  “The BBC will be using the CEC conference room for 6 weeks commencing 23rd May for these workshops. As soon as they saw the room they absolutely loved it, nice bright aspect, not too big, plus very reasonably priced."

Ray believes that the Centre's Quayside location was also a big factor in their decision, and explained that its proximity to both Newcastle and Alnwick make it a great option for anyone looking to hire space occasionally for training, meetings or networking.
